Rohilkhand University Launches Yoga Week Ahead of International Yoga Day

Bareilly: In the run-up to International Yoga Day and to mark the completion of 12 years of the Central Government, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, has launched a week-long Yoga Week aimed at promoting health, wellness, and awareness about the benefits of yoga.

The initiative has been organized by the Department of Applied Philosophy and Yoga under the guidance and patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh. As part of the programme, a special yoga practice session was held at the university stadium in collaboration with the Department of Sports.

Under the direction of Head of Department Prof. A.K. Singh, yoga instructor Dr. Setwan conducted sessions on yoga postures, meditation, and wellness practices. Participants were introduced to techniques designed to enhance physical fitness, mental well-being, and spiritual balance.

University officials informed that, as part of the Yoga Week celebrations, Rohilkhand University has been actively organizing yoga camps and public awareness programmes across the campus and its affiliated colleges for the past 15 days. These initiatives are intended to encourage students, teachers, and members of the wider community to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily lives.

The campaign aligns with this year’s International Yoga Day theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” emphasizing the role of regular yoga practice in achieving long-term physical, mental, and emotional health. Through these activities, the university aims to spread awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and inspire people of all age groups to embrace yoga for overall well-being.

A large number of students, faculty members, officers, and staff participated enthusiastically in the event. Among those present were Registrar Mahendra Kumar, Department of Philosophy Head Prof. A.K. Singh, Cultural Coordinator Dr. Jyoti Pandey, yoga instructor Dr. Setwan, and several students including Ajay, Rohit Parashari, Anshuman, Dev Prakash, Jitendra, Shantanu, Pinki, Neha, Pratyushi Rastogi, Gopal, Rajesh, Nidhi, Neeraj, Rekha, and Pallavi.

The Yoga Week programme reflects the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of health, mindfulness, and holistic development while strengthening public participation in the nationwide movement promoting yoga as a way of life.
